ICE mean In Car Entertainment.
Otherwise referred to as ICE, is a collection of hardware devices installed into automobiles, to provide audio and/or audio/visual entertainment, as well as automotive navigation systems (GPS). This includes playing media such as CDs, DVDs, Freeview/TV, USB and/or other optional surround sound, or DSP systems. Also increasingly common in ICE installs are the incorporation of video game consoles into the car.
In Car Entertainment systems have recently come into the limelight through TV shows such as MTV's Pimp My Ride.
In Car Entertainment has been made available to the masses due to reduced costs of devices such as LCD screen/monitors, and the reducing cost to the consumer of the converging media playable technologies. Single hardware units are capable of playing CD, MP3, WMA, DVD.
Through infrared headphones, passengers can now enjoy long journeys where the children can play games and/or watch DVDs in the back of the car (although front passengers can, too), whilst the driver can listen to traditional sounds—radio, CD, MP3.

Carputer is one of ICE concep. In our country, PDRM have used carputer in radio car( patrol car, kereta peronda).A Carputer, or 'CarPC', is a general purpose computing platform installed in a car.
Carputers are specially adapted computers, designed to operate in a car environment. Carputers can provide many functions, such as video and audio playback, games and in some cases internet connectivity.
Laptops also serve a useful role as Carputer system components, but laptops are harder to integrate cleanly into the car. The major problem developers face is the software that is to be installed. For instance, as of 2007 GPS navigation is a common OEM equippable option and roughly equates to a laptop running GPS software.
in other, we can modify our laptop be a carputer..but how??use USB as a console like keyboard,mouse and make input port. break the monitor/screen from main body. Make new bezznet(frame) for that monitor. or you can throug it as a rubbish and buy new one touch screen LCD. Make jumper swicth for ON/OFF. how about power? nowdays many type of power converter we can see at market. just buy it and install at your DIY CarPuter. dn't forget to make a audio output to yor amp.
make sure yor CPU in a good air condition cz in a hot temp, prcssor cn't perfomn very well.
